<p><strong>ENERGY</strong></p><p>Energy costs and the future of power generation for Railbelt utilities are looming issues for our region. Tackling these issues will involve putting all generation options on the table while also continuing ongoing state and federal efforts to upgrade transmission infrastructure. Statewide, the current cost of fuel for rural Alaska communities is crippling. The state can encourage and help fund local projects for these communities to develop their own local, diverse resources to create lower-cost options.</p><p><strong>ECONOMY</strong></p><p>Alaska’s strengths in responsible natural resource development, fishing, tourism, agriculture and small businesses all deserve state support.&nbsp;In the Valley, Port MacKenzie is primed to be an economic engine; the state can be a partner in guiding responsible development by improving infrastructure in the region. I also recognize that affordable housing, a stronger retirement system and lowering the cost of healthcare are all vital to sustaining communities.</p><p><strong>EDUCATION</strong></p><p>I know that our children are one of the most important investments for our state’s future. We must ensure they get a quality education that leads to a good job. Adequate school funding for all students across all school delivery options must be a priority. I also support expanding state funding for vocational and technical education programs, and will work to promote and expand apprenticeships.</p><p><strong>EFFICIENT DELIVERY OF SERVICES</strong></p><p>From resource development permitting delays, a shortage of judges and backlogs in processing public assistance claims, we must do better when it comes to delivering services to Alaskans.</p><p></p>

Others worry about long-term economic opportunity for themselves and their children. The state has a role in tackling all these issues, and we must encourage the political will to get results.</p><p>I am an independent voice, and I’m running to listen, and to represent all Alaskans in District 25.</p><p></p>

The Mat-Su remains the fastest growing region in the state and that growth will bring challenges and opportunities for our community. Alaskans deserve leadership that listens and puts the people’s interests first. That is why I am running to represent District 25 — to fight for a brighter future for the Mat-Su.</span></p>
