an independent voice

Steven Merritt

I have been a self-employed graphic designer, writer and editor for 25 years, with clients ranging from national magazines to resource development media. I am a skier, hiker, fly-fisherman and year-round cyclist. I have actively contributed to my community through volunteer work and board service with multiple nonprofit organizations here in the Mat-Su.

Alaska is an incredible place to raise a family

My wife and I raised three boys here in the Valley, all Palmer High alumni, and I support high-quality education that enables the next generation to find their way to good-paying jobs.

While knocking on doors in the district and listening to residents share what’s on their minds, I have heard concerns over schools, public safety, affordability in housing and healthcare, and the cost of energy. Others worry about long-term economic opportunity for themselves and their children. The state has a role in tackling all these issues, and we must encourage the political will to get results.

I am an independent voice, and I’m running to listen, and to represent all Alaskans in District 25.
